Establishment of Cell

The OBC Cell in Malla Reddy Engineering College for Women was established in2010 with the purpose to empower the OBC students. The college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to students from these communities from government agencies and other sources. The cell is always engaged to solve the various problems of OBC students.

Functions:

  • Collects reports and information from the Government of India and the UGC orders on various aspects of education, training, and employment of OBC.

  • Circulates Government of India orders and UGC’s decisions and collects information regarding the appointment and training of these communities in teaching and non-teaching posts in the University.

  • Assists OBC candidates in applying for posts within the University within the stipulated date and takes follow-up action where required.

  • Handles representations received from Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates regarding their admission, scholarships, and other similar matters in the College.

  • Collects statistics on OBC students and employees.

  • Communicates with students and motivates them for better future planning.

  • Functions as a Grievance Redressal cell for the grievances of OBC students and employees.

Responsibilities of the OBC Cell:

  • Create awareness about the rights, benefits, and opportunities available to students from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.

  • Address complaints and grievances of OBC students related to discrimination or any other issues.

  • Provide guidance on applying for scholarships, fellowships, and financial aid programs for OBC students.

  • Assist students in completing the necessary documentation for availing benefits.

  • Maintain a database of OBC students enrolled in the institution.

  • Provide counseling and guidance to OBC students on academic, career, and personal issues.

  • Encourage the participation of OBC students in cultural, social, and academic activities to promote diversity and inclusiveness.

Frequency of Meeting: Twice in a year
