SC/ST Committee

The Primary focus of establishing a SC-ST Committee is to empower students who belong to schedule caste and schedule tribes and the backward sections of the society. Institutions like ours have planned out initiatives as per the UGC guidelines in order to support and empower students belonging to SC/ST. The Committee was formed with the intention to implement various schemes meant for educational purpose through the institutional policies which provides importance to social justice, economic welfare and social defense.

Functions:

  • To ensure equal opportunity and social justice to the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes students by providing them equal opportunities in the fields of education.

  • Resolves the Grievances of SC/ST students and employees and render them necessary help in solving their personal, social, academic as well as administrative problems.

  • Ensures the effective implementation of the guidelines, policies, and programs of the Government of India, UGC, and State Government.

  • To ensure that students belonging to the category should get their due scholarship and other benefits from the various schemes of the government.

  • To extend support in the form of learning opportunities by organizing extra coaching, remedial classes so as to bring them at par with good performers.

  • The committee regularly organizes interactive sessions and informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social, and academic problems.

  • Registering complaints in writing from SC/ST teachers, officers, employees, and students to address it to the concerned department/person/section for its peaceful resolution.

  • Effective implementation of the Rule of Reservation for SC/ST Candidates in the admission process to various courses in the Institute.

Responsibilities of the SC/ST Committee

  • Ensure equal opportunities for students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in all aspects of academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.

  • Provide additional academic support to SC/ST students who may face challenges in their studies due to socio-economic or other factors.

  • Ensure that SC/ST students are aware of and apply for government scholarships, fellowships, and financial aid programs available to them.

  • Promote understanding and respect for SC/ST students through outreach and training programs for the entire college community.

  • Offer career counseling, internship opportunities, and placement support to help SC/ST students integrate successfully into the professional world.

  • Maintain records and monitor the utilization of reserved seats in academic programs and other related areas to ensure compliance.
